A careful analysis of the fourteenth chapter of Genesis and a Dead Sea Scrolls ancient fragment reveal two secrets buried for millennia: Melchizedek was probably one of the Elohim and his chief was the owner of our planet.

1. Melchizedek True Identity: One of the Elohim?
Melchizedek’s true identity has been lost among countless pages of mistranslations occurred over several centuries. In truth, he was probably one of the ancient gods Elohim, “those who from heaven to the Earth came”;
2. Creator or Owner? – A major surprise lies behind the mistranslation of the concept we all know of “god creator of the Earth”: in reality, a “god” superior to Yahweh is portrayed as being the owner of our planet;
1. Melchizedek True Identity: One of The Elohim?
Melchizedek (mɛlˈkɪzədɛk – “my king is righteousness”) is an enigmatic and mysterious figure found in the Old Testament. Not much is known about him; Despite the limited information, what clearly emerges from the biblical descriptions, however, is that Melchizedek was someone important—very important.
Maybe, even more important than Yahweh himself who, despite being the founder and leader of the project to conquer the “promised land”, as we will soon see, must still wait for Abraham to first take the oath of vassalage with Melchizedek in person.
So, what do we know today about Melchizedek?
In today’s Bibles Melchizedek is referred as to be the Almighty Lord’s “kohen” (in Aramaic כּהן), meaning a “priest”, who operated “in Shalem” which is interpreted as Jerusalem.
So he would have been, according to this vulgate, a (monotheist) king-priest of Jerusalem.
Yet, the reality differs. Let’s explore why.
Today’s Bibles translate from the Masoretic text which, as we know, is heavily manipulated.
In reality, and according to the most ancient biblical versions (The Dead Sea Scrolls), Melchizedek was considered more as a ‘god,’ one of the Elohim who operated on Elyōwn’s behalf in Shalin (not in Shalem), a locality situated west of today’s Einabus, in Palestine.
The divine nature of Melchizedek seems to be confirmed – among the others – by the fragment 1Q13 – 11QMelch, in which he is referred to with the appellation ‘Elohim’ or ‘El,’ the same title assigned to Yahweh.

Text of 11Q13 (fragment from the Melchizedek document from cave 11, written in Hebrew, around 100 BCE)
So Melchizedek was in reality, according to the oldest biblical stories, an El, an ancient god, who was the direct representative of the great chief, the supreme leader, Elyōwn (The equivalent of the sumerian god Anu), in Shalin, in Palestine.
Why is there a difference between the Masoretic text and the Dead Sea Scrolls?
Because when the Bible was picked up by the Jerusalem priesthood, in the midst of that constant political and ideological fight between Judea and Samaria, they made sure that “Shalin” became “Shalem” because they could not tolerate that the great representative of the Great Supreme Chief (Elyōwn) operated in Shalin (Palestine) and not in Jerusalem.
They also made sure that the entire narration was tampered so to confirm the monotheistic thesis. And indeed, the next paragraph is precisely about this.
2. Creator or Owner?
One of the most emblematic examples of how the original biblical stories have been altered for the use and consumption of monotheistic theology and political power, it is the story about the events linked to Abraham’s vassalage oath in the Genesis.

When Abraham is called and instructed by Yahweh to go to militarily conquer the promised land, he needs first to be accepted into a military alliance and to do so he must go to Melchizedek in person to take the oath; and in fact this is what happens: Abraham swears in front of Melchizedek and offers him the tithe, that was a taxation that every military leader paid to his El, his “god”.
The event is recounted in Genesis chapter 14. This is how the Vatican Bible recounts the event today:
Genesis 14:18:
“Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of God Most High, he blessed Abram with these words: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth…”
The modern translation provides us therefore with the following information:
1) Melchizedek was a king of Jerusalem (Shalem);
2) He was priest of “God Most High”;
3) During the vassalage ceremony with Abram, Melchizedeks said: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth”.
But are we sure that this is a reliable translation ? Once again, the truth is that the modern text has been manipulated. Lets now have a look now at the much older Hebrew original text instead:
Melchizedek (מֶ֣לֶךְ)
king of Shalin (מֶ֣לֶך שָׁלֵ֔ם)
brought out bread (הוֹצִ֖יא לֶ֣חֶם)
and wine (וָיָ֑יִן)
since he (וְה֥וּא)
[was] a priest (כֹהֵ֖ן)
of El Elyōwn (לְאֵ֥ל עֶלְיֽוֹן׃)
and he blessed him (וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖הוּ)
and said (וַיֹּאמַ֑ר)
Blessed be (בָּר֤וּךְ)
aḇrām (אַבְרָם֙)
of EL (לְאֵ֣ל) Elyōwn (עֶלְי֔וֹן)

Genesis chapter 14 — Hebrew Interlinear Bible — Westminster Leningrad
Possessor (קֹנֵ֖ה)
of heaven (שָׁמַ֥יִם)
and earth (וָאָֽרֶץ׃)

Genesis chapter 14 — Hebrew Interlinear Bible — Westminster Leningrad Codex
In the original version, Melchizedek is in Shalin (Palestine) not in Shalem (Jerusalem).
Also, he is the priest of EL Elyōwn not the priest of God Most High as deceptively translated by the Catholic Church. Elyōwn, in fact, doesn’t mean God; Its instead the name of a “god”, an individual in his own right, absolutely distinct from Yahweh. Many associate him with the Sumerian god Anu, known as the supreme. In fact, even the Leningrad Codex (see photo above) translates it as “the supreme.”
Being at the head of a galactic empire the ‘god’ Elyōwn was powerful of course, but he certainly wasn’t the “God creator of heaven and earth” invented by theology. Why? because — this is the most shocking part — that Elyōwn was none other than the almighty creator, in the original versions is not written anywhere.
We see instead the use of the Hebrew participle qo-neh which means “the possessor, the one who is acquiring, the owner”.
The one who has acquired control of the Earth, NOT the creator. The translation “creator of heaven and earth” has absolutely nothing to do with the original Hebrew text which says: of EL (לְאֵ֣ל) Elyōwn (עֶלְי֔וֹן)Possessor (קֹנֵ֖ה)of heaven (שָׁמַ֥יִם)and earth (וָאָֽרֶץ׃)
Reading suggestion: “El Shaddài” (אל שדי): God Is Not Almighty.
In summary, there are three tampering with the original text of Genesis 14:
1) The identity of Melchizedek.
In the original story Melchizedek is one of the Elohim, a “god” , direct representative of the galactic emperor, Elyōwn (Anu), in those territories.
Monotheistic translations will make Elyōwn pass for “God the Most High”.
2) Location.
In the original story Melchizedek operated in Shalin (In Palestine), while later translations place him in Shalem (Jerusalem).
3) Ownership
In the original story Elyōwn is the owner of the earth while in later translations he will be passed off as the creator.
Below, what we consider to be a final and correct translation of the passage at issue:
“Melchizedek, king of Shalin, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of Elyōwn, he blessed Abram with these words: Blessed be Abram by Elyōwn, the possessor of heaven and earth.”
