12. Huang-Di: the yellow emperor.
Another very curious out of place story arrives this time from the far East and concerns the earliest Chinese emperor Huang-Di, better known as the yellow emperor. He was believed to have descended to Earth in a thunderbolt on a clear day. He ruled China for a hundred years around 3000 BC, and is said to have brought several breakthroughs to Earth.
Chinese medicine, wooden houses, bow and arrow, writing, transportation, weapons and even specific government institutions are attributed to his intervention.
Huangdi’s wife was instead reputed to have discovered sericulture (silk production) and to have taught women how to breed silkworms and weave fabrics of silk.

According to the ancient Chinese writings, Huang-Di he possessed a “magic chariot” called Changhuan. This chariot carried Huang-Di to any part of his kingdom at high speed, and no one was allowed on it in his absence.
A story tells of a man who, incapable of resisting curiosity to see what the world was like away from his land, dared to contravene this rule and sneaked inside the Changhuan. According to the legend, when the man returned shortly afterwards, he had aged considerably. Some theorists believe that this may actually be related to the consequences of traveling at speeds greater than that of light.

If for a moment, we pretend that the above story is in essence a true story, then there would be many questions to answer:
Is this an account of the times when the gods came down to earth? Who was Huang-Di? was he an ancient alien, or was he a mere terrestrial with access to technologies and knowledge considered to be “impossible” at the time? Did antediluvian civilizations really existed?
Much of this “out of place”, or “impossible” knowledge could be explained if we allowed the idea of a cyclical and non-linear history of human civilizations, or the idea of an extraterrestrial intervention in history of humankind or both, but for several reasons the potentates of academic circles systematically ignore those alternatives, to say the least.
Typically, the search for historical truths through the ancient myths, or through “impossible” archaeological evidence, has been discarded because the former, ancient myths, are considered to be the result of fantasies with no or little historical proof while the second, the “impossible” archaeological evidence is either ignored or explained in a theological version rather fantasy-like.
Our approach is different, and closer to the thought of thinkers such as Paul-Marie Veyne, Heinrich Schliemann or Paul-Louis Courier as already tackled in a previous section: we are inclined to think that myths may be historically reliable and the so-called “impossible” archaeological finds could have a fantastic but real explanation that was always under our eyes.
History might have been played out differently from how both secular and religious institutions have told us, and today many (even and especially in the academic circles) agree that history must be rewritten.

How human history may have not been linear but cyclical is one of our most rooted beliefs.
We are used to thinking that our current civilization is the highest point of arrival of a long, unique path that lasted millennia. We will elaborate on this in the articles that follow. For the moment, let us consider the idea that human history may have been cyclical, and not linear, meaning that many human civilizations have followed one another over the millennia in a cyclical path that would have seen them born, reach their climax and then for different reasons – generally linked to natural disasters of gigantic proportions – disappear.
Was Atlantis one of them?
Now, the idea that human history was cyclical and not linear is very tempting because it would solve many mysteries of our past. Suddenly, we would no longer have to justify or hide the so-called “out of place” findings such as giant skeletons, Out-of-place artifacts, cyclopean monuments, “out of place” ancient stories and similar.
Everything would become coherent, as it would be assumed that the previous civilizations would have evolved to reach technological levels similar to ours if not superior, and today we would be trying to put together the ancient traces left by them. Indeed, ancient and
After all, how much of human civilization past can we really say to know? Maybe ten thousand years? We can say we have a fairly accurate idea of what happened to humans up to a thousand or two thousand years ago, a very approximate idea of what could have happened five to ten thousand years ago and no idea at all of what happened before that.
Those who argue that a cyclical history of humanity is not possible still deal with a thorn in the side, represented by a question. We know that Homo Sapiens (us) has been around for a very long time, probably since around two hundred thousand years. We developed linguistic skills and structured societies only from about 70,000 years ago, when we supplanted our rival species Neanderthals and started the cognitive revolution. What happened after the cognitive revolution?
Homo Sapiens was just as smart, curious and ambitious as we are, with the same brain. Should we believe that he just harvested berries and fruit for 60.000 (very boring) years? Why should we exclude that many human civilizations might have populated the planet for millennia, created cities, fought wars, developed advanced technologies, or met the aliens?
Our past is very much different and much more intricate than the light version of it that we all read in school books.
Two elements in particular need to be considered:
1) The first group of individuals ascribable to the modern Homo Sapiens appears about seventy thousand years ago. As mentioned above, these humans had the exact same brains that we have, capable of differential calculus or of conceiving priceless conceptual works. They did not think any less than us, they were no less ambitious, and they certainly didn’t sit around picking berries all the time, but rather busied themselves in organizing complex social structures.
Believing that in 60 to 65 thousand years mankind did not developed or invented anything, not even the wheel, to suddenly remember to have a powerful brain only four or five thousand years ago is illogical as it is naïve.
2) To the previous consideration it is necessary to add that Homo Sapiens was the only human being to inhabit the planet only starting from ten thousand years ago. Before, he was not alone.
For tens of thousands of years our specie coexisted with other non-sapiens human species, such as the Neanderthals or the Denisovans, with whom they fought wars and crossed paths. Imagining that (at least) two species of Homo (one of which sapiens) have cohabitated the planet for tens of thousands of years, without ever giving birth to any civilization, any progress, any form of technology or human organization whatsoever, does not make any sense.
Antediluvian advanced civilizations have existed but we have almost entirely lost their traces.
If we now bring together the validity of the ancient texts with the idea that time has been cyclical rather than linear, we are left with the conclusion that not only Greek gods were real, but that many other gods across times, regions and cultures are very much likely to have existed.
Where does this paradigm shift lead us to? At first to a feeling of awe, wonder and yes, shock: the truth has always been in front of our eyes but we were never able to see it.
Shortly afterwards to countless questions: who were these gods, really? Where did they come from? What did they want?
